Lavendula Lavender Farm, Daylesford

How quickly time flies. Today is the first day of daylight savings accompanying the onset of Spring 2014. These shots were taken at the end of autumn, when we took a day trip to Daylesford about one and a half hours out of Melbourne along the Western Highway. The town has been marketed as a leisure and lifestyle destination, with lots of B&Bs and spas capitalising on the hype that Lakehouse has brought to the area.

We were told that the Lavendula Farm just about 10 minutes out of Daylesford was a great place to visit, and it took some effort to find but we managed to make it there. It was gorgeous. I'll let the photos speak for themselves and provide captions where relevant.

The entrance to the farm. It cost us $4 per person to enter and it didn't matter whether you were a patron of the cafe or not.

Outdoor seating, which would have been lovely in summer

We explored the grounds of the farm before lunch

The farm is dotted with sculptures across the grounds

The cafe, which was pretty quiet that day

Still gorgeous scenery though

The lavender had been harvested some weeks before that, sadly

The remnants of the autumn leaves clinging stubbornly to the trees

Some trees were still full of leaves....the stragglers, I say

After a walk around the grounds, we went in to the cafe for some lunch. We started off with a lavender champagne and a lavender lemonade. The bubbly (I'm pretty sure they were local grapes) was yummy and tasted like a moscato with a hint of lavender.

I loved the rustic interior, and the skylight helped to provide lots of light

We ordered the lunch platter for 2 people which cost around $35, and we didnt manage to finish it.

A combination of cold cuts, cheese, olives and salad accompanied by bread. Tasty and yummy.

Where geese shall safely graze.

Another parting shot of the lavender fields.

Completely unrelated to the lavender farm, we also ventured to Elwood one evening, and caught a gorgeous sunset - while the pictures don't do justice to the actual scenery, these give a glimpse of how amazing it was to sit in 18 deg weather enjoying the moment.
