Canto Kitchen

An excolleague brought us to Canto Kitchen at People's Park for the most amazing crab porridge. Apparently the place is helmed by a Chef Kang who used to run a popular restaurant called in Joo Chiat. I went there one evening for dinner with my mum and since it was only 2 of us, our ability to order was rather limited.

We had the spinach in superior stock with 3 eggs. Loved it!
Then the crab porridge arrived. It was a lovely orange hue from the crab roe and crab stock...and super fragrant with loads of Chinese rice wine.
First the server will take out all the crab from the claypot, and stack it on a plate so it's easier for everyone to eat.
Then you scoop the porridge out into a bowl and use both hands to eat...one hand holding the spoon and the other with a piece of crab. Heavenly!
