Latteria Mozzarella Bar takes the prize for the BEST. RESTAURANT. WEEK. MENU. EVER. In my opinion, at least. This was also because I had just been to another expensive European restaurant along Duxton Rd that had tried to, in my opinion, pull a fast one on innocent people with their pathetic RW menu, which really upset me (more of that in a later post).
Back to LMB and RW. My philosophy for RW is that it's meant to get me to try places I wouldn't normally visit, or new restaurants that appear appealing. And LMB has managed to convince me that they are worth a repeat visit even during non-RW season. Their servings are generous, the food is delicious and their service extremely on-the-ball. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Their bread - crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and served warm with an EVO + balsamic vinegar drip. Refilled with a smile.
The starter: crab & stracciatella cheese salad with roast zucchini. Stracciatellia is a type of mozzarella that comes in shreds, and it was excellent with the crabmeat. The entire ensemble came wrapped in rocket. The flavours blended together perfectly.
The carbs, or the primo: Smoked Scamorza & Porcini Mushrooms Risotto. One of the most perfect risottos ever - the flavours of the porcini and cheese came together so nicely in this dish, and the rice grains were great to bite into.
The main, or secondi: Grilled Beef Sirloin Tagliata with Rucola and Truffle Sauce. We were amazed at this dish - it was tender, flavourful and large (tagliata means sliced). The truffle sauce was such a treat.
Done to medium perfection.
Dolce: Lemon Pannacotta with Balsamic Strawberries- this was perhaps not as brilliant as the earlier courses, but we were so full by the time that it didn't really matter. And dessert came with coffee or tea.
Seriously the best quality and best value meal for $25+++, ever. Would I go back to spend more money there? You bet.
