Garden Wing Restaurant at TMCC

The in-laws are members of Tanah Merah Country Club, and as part of an agreement between the club and the members, they have to visit the Chinese restaurant at least once every 3 months to spend a minimum amount of money. So we were there last night as part of our quarterly pilgrimage. The restaurant was half-full.

Just thought the chilli was a nice shade of green. Realised later that this was fresh and not pickled.

We started with a cold mixed platter of seasoned octopus, jellyfish, prawn salad and 2 unidentifiable items (white roll at 12 o'clock, and pseudo-fishcake/springroll thingy at 3 o'clock)

We had half a roast chicken. This was pretty good, with crispy skin and succulent moist meat.

The cuttlefish with asparagus and XO sauce was good too.

Chinese steak. I didn't like this as much, as I thought it was too sweet and tasted too much of tomato ketchup.

Spinach tofu with spinach (below). The sauce tasted somewhat like ma po tou fu sauce. The tofu was nice, but you usually can't go too far wrong with spinach tofu. I thought the spice was overpowering, but fortunately we had steamed rice to go with it.

Kai lan with garlic. Standard hard-to-go-wrong dish.

The cereal prawns were excellent. Easily the best I've eaten in a long while. The oat/flour bits, with the curry leaves, were really tasty and could be eaten on their own.
