Tian Wai Tian

We headed to Tian Wai Tian for the first time in almost 10 years for a late dinner. Even though it had been a hot favourite way back, it was almost too difficult to try to negotiate that portion of Serangoon Road while the vehicular underpass under the PIE was being built. And parking was a separate headache as well. Anyway, the works are completed, and parking's just as bad but I suppose that can't be helped (or maybe it can with the $92k COEs).

It was just 2 of us, so we didn't order too much. We had a fried kailan which was pretty good.

But it was the fish steamboat that we came for - it was as good as I recall, with the soup encompassing a myriad of flavours from various ingredients including ti po (the dried sole fish) and sng buay. I loved the veggies and yam, which made it even more rich.

Lots of fish meat in the steamboat.
We also ordered the hae chor, which came hot and crispy. Fabulous with chilli and sweet dipping sauce.

Dinner came up to just 30plus dollars for the 2 of us, which we felt was pretty reasonable since we had previously paid that same amout at Whampoa Market for the fish steamboat alone. It does get pretty crowded, so unless you're there at 5.30 or 10pm, come ready to wait.
